Our Journey Into Heaven

Rev. Samuel U. EbukibaTherefore let us also seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Heb: 12:1, 2

It is remarkable to know that the choices you make are very important in the overall interest of your faith. That the choice you make in pursuit of an unshakable faith in the Lord is a crucial factor in the actualization of your dream is not an understatement. The choice you make amidst the options life provides cannot be over looked in the overall appraisal of your faith and your race.

One of the weights to lay aside is in Matthew: 6: 25ff. The weight of anxiety is a very terrible weight we must lay aside if we must run well. One of the negative things this weight does to us is that it gives us a very wrong definition of life. For instance Jesus said, “…take no thought for your Life…what you will eat…drink…or put on….” Anxiety has made many believers reduce their meaning of life to what they eat, drink, wear, shelter and their children’s education or welfare. They see life as good when they have what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, where to lay their head and such things as that and life is bad when these things are not in place. Such weight as this clouds believers’ vision to run a clear race.

Jesus went on to ask, “…is not life more than meat…?” Anxiety has a very bad effect on believers and is something we must lay aside. If you allow it to becloud your life, you cannot have a clear vision and purpose for life and your perspective for eternity will be perverted. The Lord is calling on us to put aside anxiety and develop stronger faith in the Lord to enable us run the race set before us. The Lord is ready to help every one of us run our race but we must do our best to lay aside the weight of anxiety in order to run well.

Take note that whatever makes you anxious in life is not good for your faith; whatever is not good for your faith is not good for your spiritual life; whatever is not good for your spiritual life is not good for the race set before you. Make deliberate effort not to make anxiety part of your faith option. God bless you.
